Case Ledger does not collect personal data. Recordings stay on your Mac. We do not run analytics, do not track usage, and do not transmit any recording content or metadata to our servers.

§ I

Who We Are

Case Ledger is published by Case Ledger ("we," "us," or "our"), an independent software publisher. Our principal place of business is Castle Rock, Colorado, United States.

§ II

Data We Collect

From the app itself: nothing. Case Ledger is a local-only application. It does not transmit screen recordings, audio, evidence bundles, manifests, audit logs, signing keys, or any associated metadata to us or to any third party.

The information that exists is:

  • Recording files and evidence bundles — created and stored locally on your Mac in the location you choose.
  • Signing keys — generated and held in your Mac's Secure Enclave. The private key never leaves your device. The public key can be exported by you for verification purposes.
  • Audit log files — stored locally alongside your recordings.
  • App preferences — stored in your macOS user preferences on your Mac only.

We do not have access to any of the above.

§ III

Information Apple Provides Us

Case Ledger is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you purchase Case Ledger, Apple acts as the merchant of record and collects payment information directly. Apple may provide us with limited aggregate sales information (such as country of sale and unit counts) and anonymized download analytics that we cannot tie back to you.

§ IV

Support Emails You Send Us

If you email us at support@caseledger.app or notify@caseledger.app, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.

We do not add support emails to a marketing list. We do not share your support correspondence with third parties except as required by law.

Emails sent to the launch notification address (notify@caseledger.app) are used to notify you when Case Ledger becomes available on the App Store. You can request removal from this list at any time by emailing us.

§ V

Cookies and Web Analytics

The Case Ledger website (caseledger.app) does not set tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party analytics or advertising tools. The site is served through Cloudflare, which may collect standard server log information (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) for security and operational purposes; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details on their handling.

§ VI

Data Sharing

Because we do not collect personal data from the app, there is no data to share. We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information. We will only disclose information when legally compelled to do so, and only the information we possess (which, for app users, is limited to support email correspondence if you have written to us).

§ VII

Data Security

The security of your recordings and evidence bundles is a function of your Mac. We recommend you keep macOS up to date, enable FileVault disk encryption, and use a strong login password. The cryptographic signing key Case Ledger uses is held in your Mac's Secure Enclave, which provides hardware-isolated key storage.

For information you do send us (support emails), we use commercially reasonable measures to protect those communications, but no method of electronic transmission is perfectly secure.

§ VIII

Children's Privacy

Case Ledger is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at support@caseledger.app and we will take steps to remove that information.

§ IX

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing of your information. Because we collect almost no personal information, these rights generally apply only to support email correspondence.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@caseledger.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and post the revised policy here. For material changes, we will provide notice on the homepage of caseledger.app at least thirty days before the changes take effect.
